eSwatini Chapter

YASA in Eswatini is known as Eswatini Young Statistician Association (EYSA). EYSA has been active since 2015 with the main objective of building the statistical capacity and empowering young statisticians and early career researchers in generating high-quality statistics and research output in key areas of development.

In alignment with the continental YASA mandate and activities, EYSA aims to build the capacity of young statisticians in Eswatini through training and empowerment of young statisticians on scientific research, management and leadership as well as information dissemination/sharing while simultaneously equipping them with community engagement and collaboration skills necessary for professional development.

The association aims at forging partnerships with several national organisations with a similar mandate which include the National Statistics Office (CSO), the University of Eswatini and other professional organisations whose objectives align with EYSA. Through these partnerships, EYSA aims to promote statistical literacy in Eswatini (including launching statistical literacy programs in high schools), encourage the development of statistics education and spread awareness on the subject of statistics and build capacity for undergraduates in core areas of statistics as well as to revitalise the diminishing interest on Statistics among students and Eswatini citizens, hence enable them to consider statistics as a future career prospect.
