Lesotho Chapter
YASA in Lesotho is known as Lesotho Young Statistician Association (LYSA). LYSA has been active since 2015 and was officially launched in October 2016.
The main objective of the LYSA chapter is to build the capacity of all young statisticians to generate quality statistics and to coordinate and implement the continental YASA activities at the country level. These activities are in fulfilment of the Strategy for the Harmonization of Statistics in Africa (SHaSA), which contributes towards the human capital development in statistics by building and expanding the pool of experienced, competent and operational statisticians on the continent.
In line with this mandate, the association aims at developing, training and mentoring young statisticians and demographers in statistical development, research and leadership with the help of a multi-disciplinary national and continental-wide team of experts whose sole focus is to groom the next generation of statistical leaders.
